Challenge
As a provider of electricity, gas, district heating, and drinking water, Stadtwerke Crailsheim (the public utility company of Crailsheim) is part of the critical infrastructure (KRITIS). KRITIS organizations and authorities have particularly stringent requirements for data protection, data security, and the availability of their IT systems. When selecting a data center for the modernization of their IT infrastructure, they needed a partner who was not only well-versed in the relevant requirements and regulations for KRITIS but also prioritized critical societal issues such as energy efficiency and sustainability.
Solution
With noris network, Stadtwerke Crailsheim chose a data center and IT service provider capable of meeting the high demands of KRITIS. noris network is itself part of Germany’s KRITIS infrastructure and was able to ensure that the municipal utility obtained ISMI certification within one year. Moreover, the migration resulted in nearly halving the previous costs associated with maintaining their own data center.
Project Success
The noris network infrastructure fully meets all regulatory requirements of Stadtwerke Crailsheim. Additionally, the combination of cloud services with other solutions ensures that IT managers no longer have to deal with administrative or technical challenges. Managed services have alleviated the IT managers’ concerns over the shortage of skilled labor in Baden-Württemberg. Cyber security has also reached a particularly high level in times of increasing online attacks on authorities by organized crime.
